VICTORIAN SQUARE
Downtown Sparks, Nevada
Victorian Square, located in downtown Sparks, Nevada, is a pedestrian friendly district that plays host to many great events including the Best in the West Nugget Rib Cook-off, Hot August Nights, and Farmer's Markets.
Victorian Square includes Century Sparks 14 Theatre, John Ascuaga's Nugget, Silver Club Casino, and many other local retail stores and restaurants.
Hunter Creek Engineering designed the Phase 1 Roadway, Streetscape, and Infrastructure Improvements. HCE worked with City of Sparks Public Works staff, City of Sparks Fire Department, Truckee Meadows Water Authority, Sierra Pacific Power Company, and AT&T to develop a safe and pleasing environment for many generations to come. |

STERLING RIDGE TOWNHOMES
McCarran Boulevard and El Rancho Drive, Sparks, Nevada
Sterling Ridge Townhomes is a 7.7 acre, 142 unit townhome development, located at the northeast corner of El Rancho Drive and McCarran Boulevard in Sparks, Nevada.
The project includes common parking, tot lot, cabana and pool area. Units range from 2 bedroom to 3 bedrooms with all containing a 2 car garage.
HCE handled the permitting portion of this project including the Tentative Map and Final Map. HCE designed the roadway, storm drain, sanitary sewer, and water infrastructure.

DENNIS BANKS CONSTRUCTION CORPORATE OFFICE
425 Maestro Drive, Reno, Nevada
Dennis Banks Construction Corporate Office is located at 425 Maestro Drive, Reno, Nevada. The Professional Office building is 25,696 sf. The project is located adjacent to Dry Creek, which provides an aesthetic appeal for the project. Hunter Creek Engineering designed the storm drain, sanitary sewer, and water infrastructure. HCE graded the site and prepared an erosion control plan, which was implemented prior and throughout construction to decrease the impact on Dry Creek.

PULIZ WAREHOUSE NO. 4
1095 Standard Street, Reno, Nevada
Puliz Warehouse No. 4 is a 52,910 sf warehouse w/ 10 loading docks located at 1095 Standard Street, Reno, Nevada.
HCE designed the roadway, storm drain, sanitary sewer, and water infrastructure. The project includes underground detention to maximize the developed space and to minimize the storm water runoff from the site.

STANFORD CROSSING
Southwest corner of East Greg Street and South McCarran Boulevard, Sparks, Nevada
Stanford Crossing is a 4 parcel, 3.8 acres commercial plaza located at the southwest corner of East Greg Street and South McCarran Boulevard, in Sparks, Nevada. Hunter Creek Engineering has been involved with all aspects of this project. Design considerations included floodplain regulations, impact to South McCarran Boulevard under the jurisdiction of Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT), and shared infrastructure between multiple tenants on different parcels.
Hunter Creek Engineering’s design allows for fuel delivery with minimal disturbance to adjacent tenants. This was done utilizing the latest in design software and continual communication with our clients.

SILVER LAKE VFD
11525 Red Rock Road, Reno, Nevada
Silver Lake Volunteer Fire Department is a 6,360 sf Fire Station located at 11525 Red Rock Road in Reno, Nevada. The project includes a shop with 4 Stalls for Fire Trucks and innovative Septic and Stormwater Retention design.
Hunter Creek completed the design of the septic system, storm drain infrastructure, water infrastructure, grading, and parking layout. Stormwater runoff was detained on site with an infiltration pond. Utilizing this design decreased sedimentation runoff from the site and offset the increased runoff created by the development of the site.
HCE also used an innovative design for the septic, which at its time had not been widely used in Northern Nevada. To decrease the overall footprint of the leach field this project used ADS Leaching Chambers.

DIEDRICHSEN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
1735 Del Rosa Way, Sparks, Nevada
Diedrichsen Elementary School is an existing elementary school located in the City of Sparks. The project included re-grading and striping the main parking lot; re-grading paved areas around the building; trash enclosure; and water seepage issues from the landscape areas.
Hunter Creek completed the design of the parking lot adding additional spaces while providing adequate drainage to eliminate ponding in the parking area. The existing handicap ramps were removed and replaced with new ramps to meet current ADA code. The paved playground areas around the building were also improved with the addition of swales and concrete valley gutters. Hunter Creek also mitigated the seepage from the landscape areas by providing perforated storm drain pipe and catch basins behind the sidewalk to collect the excess irrigation water.

PLASTERS AND MASONS
808 AND 810 Gleeson Way, Sparks, Nevada
Plasters and Masons is an existing residence that was converted into a commercial office. The project is located in the City of Sparks. This project included parking lot grading, geometry modifications, connection to City sewer, landscape water service, and construction of a fire hydrant.
Hunter Creek completed the design of the parking lot by the addition of handicap and regular parking spaces. The existing site was level and the storm drain line in Gleeson Way was at a minimal depth creating a challenge for drainage. To effectively drain the site HCE graded the parking lot to drain into a detention pond located in the middle of the parking lot. Since the public storm drain in Gleeson Way was very shallow, a pump and force main were designed to drain the site.

1000 MARIETTA WAY
1000 Marietta Way, Sparks, Nevada
1000 Marietta Way is an existing site with automotive and retail businesses located in the City of Sparks. This project included grading, geometry modifications, stormwater treatment, outdoor storage screening, and construction of a retaining wall.
This project required new pavement to replace the existing pavement, which was in a deteriorated state. The owner also wanted to maximize his lot by providing as much paved area and outdoor storage as he could. HCE provided a Redi-Rock retaining wall along the shared property line with the railroad to create the needed slope for stormwater to drain to the newly installed valley gutters. The project was graded to have the maximum area drain to a stormceptor for treatment of sediment and petrochemicals. The outdoor storage was designed to meet the client's needs while maintaining access utilizing AUTOTURN software.

FOURTH AND MCCARRAN
Northeast corner of Fourth and McCarran, Reno, Nevada
Fourth and McCarran is a 4 parcel, 2.73 acre commercial development located at the northeast corner of Fourth Street and McCarran Boulevard, in Reno, Nevada. Hunter Creek Engineering has been involved with all aspects of this project. Design considerations included grading and designing the site to match existing public improvements; onsite infiltration and treatment of stormwater; and shared infrastructure between multiple tenants on different parcels.
Hunter Creek Engineering’s design allows for fuel delivery with minimal disturbance to adjacent tenants. The project also utilized as much space as possible for development while also effectively treating stormwater with stormceptors and detaining and infiltrating stormwater with underground perforated pipe.

SIERRA VISTA ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
2001 Soaring Eagle Drive, Reno, Nevada
This project required mitigating the impacts of the storm water runoff from the Sierra Vista site draining onto the Wolf Run Village Apartments, located south of the school, during significant storm events.
This storm water runoff was mitigated by providing underground and surface detention areas and providing a curb to direct stormwater into these detention areas. The design provided a cost effective solution while maintaining the function of the existing playground.

CITY OF SPARKS POLICE ADA ACCESS IMPROVEMENTS
1701 E Prater Way, Sparks, Nevada
Martin Iron Works received the AGC Pinnacle Award for the City of Sparks Police Department ADA Access Railing.
The existing ADA access to the Police Department was not directly off Prater Way and did not provide easily navigated access.
HCE designed an ADA handicap ramp that provided easy access from the bus stop off of Prater Way to the entry of the Police Department. The ramp also was designed to be aesthetically pleasing and utilize the existing grade of the site.

CITY OF SPARKS MAINTENANCE YARD IMPROVEMENTS - PHASE I AND II
215 South 21st Street, Sparks, Nevada
The main entryways and traffic area pavements were deteriorated. These areas required regrading and replacement with a pavement section able to withstand the traffic loads.
HCE regraded these areas to provide better drainage. Concrete pavement with a structural section thick enough for the daily traffic, which includes fire trucks was utilized in these high traffic areas. Existing drainage structures such as concrete valley gutters and storm drain catch basins were also replaced to provide additional drainage benefits.

MOANA NURSERY CORPORATE OFFICE
1100 W. Moana Lane, Reno, Nevada
The project included a 7,176 sf corporate office on a 1 acre parcel.
The size of the building on such a small parcel presented a few obstacles. Two of these obstacles were detention of storm water onsite and fire access. Storm water was detained underground utilizing a 42 inch RC pipe. This provided additional area for parking and landscaping. Fire access was obtained with coordinated discussion with the City of Reno Fire Department and a design to provide enough area onsite for fire truck turning movements.

DARTMOUTH DRIVE TRAFFIC CALMING
Dartmouth Drive, Reno, Nevada
Dartmouth Drive is a private, residential street located in Reno, Nevada. The existing roadway required replacement and had several drainage issues. There was also a need to provide traffic calming features to slow traffic through the neighborhood.
HCE designed traffic calming features such as paver rumble strips, roundabouts, and triangle landscape islands. HCE also regraded the roadway in areas and added additional drainage items such as rolled curb and gutter, concrete valley gutter, and catch basins.

BIG WHEEL TRAVEL CENTER AND CASINO
480 Truck Inn Way, Fernley, Nevada
Big Wheel Travel Center and Casino is located at 480 Truck Inn Way in Fernley, Nevada. The project includes a 22,519 sf travel center and casino building; 12 automobile fuel pumps; 16 semi truck fuel pumps; 164 automobile spaces; and 32 semi truck spaces. Hunter Creek Engineering has been involved with all aspects of this project. Design considerations included grading and designing the site to match existing public improvements; onsite infiltration and treatment of stormwater; I-80 off ramp right lane and on ramp acceleration lane additions; and water infrastructure.
Hunter Creek Engineering design allows for seperate access to semi truck and automobile parking. The project also utilized existing sandy soil conditions to infiltrate stormwater while also effectively treating stormwater with stormceptors.
